Hey guys,
So I was watching a few videos on youtube (yet again...I'm a little addicted) and I was kinda woundering since I see all these comments like "great job" or "Keep it up" and that video wouldn't even be very good! So are all Youtube musicians good musicians? The answer is NO a huge NO, NO, NO, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! just because someone has the cojones (that means balls lol McLaughlin) to turn their camera on and strum out some chords doesn't mean they are good musicians a perfect example here sorry to the singer that I had to get from this. But you can't just take a song and call it your's it doesn't work like that! This is a real musician, David choi who produces and writes his own music like and original piece called 'Valentines'
Even through you can't just strum out a few chords and sing a really bad note what makes you think "real" singers in the media use their own voice. Okay so it may sound cool but when you change your voice to make it sound better than it acually is then is it real music or computer made music? An example of computer altered voices are someone like T-Pain with his hit "buy you a drink" or Sean Kingston's "Beautiful Girls" where you can tell with the over perfect voice and overall Cyber-like voice! It's just plain Cheating!!! their are REAL singers out there that have amazing voices that don't need computer altering like Hayley Williams (Paramore) whos voice is perfect for rock and alternative song! I love her voice!!! (Paramore's acoustic version of 'Here we go again' in my last post, click acoustic)
But the question is if you had the chance to use this technology for altering your own voice....would you use it to become famous....or would fame feel hollow?!

I'm sorry, but why don't you try making a video and see what it feels like.
also, you stole me poll question.
I do agree with you that using computer programs to pitch shift your voice is a complete fabrication of reality and is an easy way out rather than actually knowing how to sing.
But by saying someone who wrote a song and lyrics even though they can't sing well is not a musician is selling them short and spitting in thier face. I'd like to see any videos you possibly have of you playing a song you wrote and singing it then posting it on youtube. Atleast those people are trying.
