Treadmill

Hey guys,
Well I figured out something about myself. I CAN'T WATCH CONCERTS ANYMORE! I've been watching some on YouTube and I just feel pissed off at myself because I should be doing that. I should be playing in front of people and entertaining them, getting my music out there. Right now I feel as though I'm in a place I can't get out of like I'm suck on a treadmill or something. It's like the same thing everyday, Same school, same boring classes, same miserable teachers, same crazy friends (I love my friends lol) same band practises and getting nothing done with my band, and just cruising through life with no purpose. I want to do something with my life! Make a difference, Be apart of history but there are no chances to do it. I'm not the smartest, defiantly not the most athletic, I'm not the best at music, I'm not a history buff. I'm just an average girl and I know if I don't do something 10 years down the road I'm going to be stuck in a crappy job and doing nothing with my life! I don't want that. I just need one chance at my dream and I can't do that for myself because if I do people would just call be a bossy bitch or or something along those lines. I wonder if every teenager feels like this cause I feel so alone cause my mom brags to my grandmother and her friends about me doing good in school, and being in cadets, and playing in the school bands and stuff like that but I feel as though those don't count cause I see a lot of kids doing the samething...holy crap I'm ranting again like my other one anyways I hope to write more and update faster! check out my FanFic site and read!!!

Commitment, Exclusion, and Determination...or Lack there of...

Hey guys.
So lately I've been having some troubles with people and them not commiting to things such as apointments, events, groups, and other things. I find this VERY imature, angrifying (my word) and frustrating. I mean if your going to commit to something COMMIT! If your in a group be in that group, don't dance around it saying your in it and never come to that group. I would like to name names but I can't because that would be rude and I am not a rude person. but all I have to say is if you let someone in a goupe or you join one BE IN IT! don't half ass it! well Happy Holidays everyone and I hope you all get me a gift cause my birthday is coming up! SO GET ME ONE!!! lol love ya'll

What the future holds?

Hey guys,
Well as some of you know this is my junior year in high school and I have like one year to figure out what I want to do...which sucks cause there's a lot I want to do. So far I'm working on my music but I don't know if I actually have a future in it. I mean I'm not the best at it but I'm good but what if I can't get into collage. I also wanna do a lot of stage work as in a stage performer (aka Rock-star lol) I watch a lot of these singers on YouTube and I;m no where close to where they are in preforming skills (STAGE FRIGHT) I know I could do it if I had the chance but...when you live here...small town its really hard to get notice specially if you go to a mainly arts school. Other than music I would like to become a writer, like a short story writer and/or novelist. I also thought about acting cause I'm not bad at it but again the stage fright thing is hard to work out of. I'd love to become famous and help people through donating money through charities and do what I love at the same time. Also with the collage thing. I went to a collage fair a few week back and so far I have it narrowed down to 2 collages (I'm keep them secret for now) but they both have the courses I need but I'm still not sure...maybe I should take a tour of them someday...oh well anywho yeah I'm just rambling now...I'm so lame hehe well soon I'll get some lyrics of my songs up here and possibly get a video of my own on here two!! that would be awesome but yeah that's all

16th Birthday and remeberance day weekend

Hey guys,
wow I haven't written in a while! sorry! But things are kinda crazy here and well I haven't had much time to write. So far I'm staring in a short film in communications class (chase scene), I've been working so hard with the band (D.I.T.F) and I have to start getting my Christmas shopping done so I don't do it like the last week before. In all of this I almost forgot I'm having my 16th birthday this year!!!! yeaho!!!!! so excited cause then I can get my licence and drive places!!! I remembered today cause my mom was on the phone with my grandma (G-ma) and invited me to come down and go to a candle lit church service with them. Now I'm not a real church goer...I really am not a religious person but I love my grandma and grandpa and my mom thought it would be nice so I decided to go (My birthday is the Eve of Christmas Eve) and although it will be singing and stuff I don't know if I'll like it yet...what do you think? Well also I'm having possibly a party near my birthday (0r after so we can go to Lazar Quest) so if you'd like to go come and talk to me (for those who go to my school) We might not go to Lazar Quest but we'll still have a great time at my house!!! PARTY!!!! lol you also better get me a present!!!! a good one!!! or money....money is always good. So yeah have fun on your Remembrance Day weekend...I will! LEST WE FORGET! I have to stand at the Cenotaph all night and then stand for an hour at it again for the parade so come out and support out troops that have fought and died for Canada.

FanFiction.net

Hey guys
Well so far you guys know I'm obviously a musician but do you know that I'm also a writer. I've been writing almost as long as I've been into music. Currently I have published seven stories on FanFiction.net. A Fan fiction is basically taking a story that is already written and putting your own twist on it, so if you didn't like the end of a movie then redo it in your own way. Or if you wanted to make a sequel to a story you know then write on! I've been on for about...a year and write as much as I can between my other activies and so far I'm a seniour Author on the site writing over 173,739 words on my account. I really don't like people who I know reading my stories because of what they would say about them but recently I figured I would get more 'hits' and 'reviews' if I told people so I have put a link to my site where you can read one of my many stories (Some that aren't done yet) Theres about 3 that aren't done. So read and review and I hope I've inspired others to write some stories for the site! so go ahead!!!

Halloween

Hey guys,

So it's Halloween today...a day where kids can roam the streets till they fill their pillow cases with candy. Where no cars ever dare to leave their driveways, and when children can eat candy till they get sick and not get into any trouble like they would on a normal night. Although I'm not one for these kind of holidays I do like that just one day of the year you can dress up as something you would want to but on any other day you would probably be beat up for it. This Halloween my house was all done up (My mom kinda goes crazy for Halloween) and our front porch contained many noise making spooky items like: a crawling hand, a huge strung up skeleton, some screaming coffin thing and a few others. My favorite was the pumpkin that we made look like it was throwing up its insides (mmmm...) but then again I love pumpkins. Also this year I caved in and dressed up to hand out candy and unlike any other year...I actually had fun because I was dressed as a mullet wearing Rock Star (compleat with guitar) and I made every kid that I answered the door to sing in a rock star like voice 'Trick-or-Treat' and holy that was fun. As many of you don't know I have a HUGE fear of Halloween mask...I never knew why but every time I see them the eyes aren't right...it's creepy! So every time before I would go to answer I would check the window to see if any kids were wearing any...sooooo many kids had some. I also went around the block to the houses I knew gave out a lot of candy (comes with the experience of living in the same place for a while) and hit those houses first...oh man just looking at the candy I got makes me sick. I also made sure I saved a few candy bags from my house cause I'm a nice friend and plan to give some out to my friends on friday...PA day tomorrow (whoot) but yeah that was my halloween...tell me about yours....Happy Halloween muahahahahahhahahaha

No more Media Studies blogs

Hey guys,
So our unit on 'the internet' is over and its kinda bitter sweet because I had finished my blog way before the time they were due but also McLaughlin is gone! so sad as I mentioned in my previous blog, also becuase I won't be able to check my e-mail, Facebook and Youtube all at the same time in class...That's sadning (MY WORD) but also its happy because were THAT much closer to the 'music' unit and that is what I'm waiting for but you can't have everything. But anyways I was on my Youtube thing a few weeks ago and I found a new awsome song that has to be one of my top-ten-favorite-songs-on-the-internet list (And that is a hard list to get on!) this song is by David Choi who a frequently mention on my blogs but this is one of his best Original songs. He plays a mandolin which is a very hard instrument to play becuase of the small finger board and sings with his signature tone (which I love). The way he plays and sings give me shiver everytime I hear this song! The song is called "Dusty People" and was added September 18th, 2007 on David choi's youtube acount. I have posted the song and hope you all love it as much as I do!

You can find David Choi at his Yotube account HERE or at his Myspace HERE because he is a really great musician and I love his work...

New Paramore Video

Hey guys,
so you might not know but I am a HUGE Paramore fan. Their not really big in Canada yet but their and rock/alternative band. Hayley Williams (lead singer) has a lot of soul and R&B backround and you can hear it in her voice (but you have to listen) Their new single CrushCrushCrush is blowing up TRL charts!!!!!!! I love this band and I have posted the video. This is not the first video they have out. 'Misery Buisness', 'Pressure' and 'Emergency' are other videos they have made over their fame I suggest you check them out. I also suggest that you check out their acoustic versions of their songs because unlike a lot of artist, Hayley William's voice is perfect for acoustic covers and is basicaly flawless (I've posted the acoustic version too from a MTV commercial thingy campfire majig!!). Heres the new video...Enjoy

Do Celebrites Get away with more?

Hey guys
Okay I do have a problem with some celebrites and what they get away with! Its true that they are in the public eye and they're rich and stuff but Its not fair with a lot of they things they get away with. DUI's, Drug possestion, driving without a licence, weponds charges! I mean come on if they were 'normal' everyday people they would have gone to jail no glits, no glamour just gone and done their time but instead they do long drawn out court sessions televised by every News Station in TV and yet they still get off with a slap on the back of the hand! Its so unfair for all of us that don't have millions of dollars to get lawyers from who knows! So why do they get away with this?! If they were smart they would be harder on celebrites BECAUSE they are in the public eye so it sends a message out to those who are doing crime becuase it shows they have no leniency for enyone and yet they use all the excusses in the book just so they won't serve their time!

The most famous example of this is Paris Hilton (of chorse!) she was charged with a DUI and driving without a licence and was sentenced to 45 days in a minimum security jail. Althought she did go to jail, two days after she was sent there she was let out becuase of 'medical reasons' (which ment she was scared and didn't like the food) and when she was out she went shopping and stayed in her mansion! I mean come on people just because she is the daughter to the owner of the Hilton Hotels dosen't mean he will do anything!!! what is he going to do? Not leave little chocolates on your pillow, deny you room service? And still when she did her time she old did a little over half of the days then was let out for "good behaviour" now I'm not going to say anything about THAT.

Its not just about Jail time but its also about the fact that they can get away with almost anything and people still idolize them and buy their merchendise like...Kate Moss a model who was famously filmed doing drugs...umm hello! anyone know thats illigel! ummm she should go to jail for drug possesion!!!!!!!

So in closing Celebities get away with a lot of stuff and its not fair!!!!!!

Backlash

Hey guys
from my other blog about youtube musicians i got a few comments about selling artist short...I'm not selling anyone short but those two songs (one by T-pain and one by sean kingston) I did not say anything about writing them or producing them i simple pointed out the computer enchancement in their voice. And the girl who i linked to about not good singing I didnt say anything about the song I talked about her voice and she didn't write the song that she played behind her it was Paramore's 'Misery Buisness' that was written by the band. I respect most artist if they are serious about their work. If they want to go around saying that they make their own music or write their own music and just don't then I don't have any respect for them. Which brings up another topic...sampling

We watched a video in class about sampling and it got me thinking if you sample songs from other artist will you pay them royalties for their song. My own personal thought about this is....to an extent. If your taking like verses or chorse out and using them in your song then thats a no because that is their words that you have taken (also remember "covers" talk about that later) but if your taking riffs and licks that you layer over to make it sound like your own then I think thats okay as long is it doesn't sound exactly like the original (remixes)

Covers are a different story though. A cover is when an artist takes a song and does a remake of it in his or her own way and or does it the same way with their own voice. Covering a song does not mean taking it as long as the artist reconizes the original artist. Maybe covers can be better or worse that then original but is all a matter of interpritation. A good example of a cover is Cristina Marie's cover of Jeff Buckley's 'Hallelujah' (which is intrestingly enought is also a cover itself) So next time you hear that song you love from that artist it isn't originaly from it is probably a cover!

Ps. Maybe one day I'll do a song on youtube but not today! and yeah I know its not very easy!

Are all Youtube musicians, good musicians?

Hey guys,
So I was watching a few videos on youtube (yet again...I'm a little addicted) and I was kinda woundering since I see all these comments like "great job" or "Keep it up" and that video wouldn't even be very good! So are all Youtube musicians good musicians? The answer is NO a huge NO, NO, NO, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! just because someone has the cojones (that means balls lol McLaughlin) to turn their camera on and strum out some chords doesn't mean they are good musicians a perfect example here sorry to the singer that I had to get from this. But you can't just take a song and call it your's it doesn't work like that! This is a real musician, David choi who produces and writes his own music like and original piece called 'Valentines'

Even through you can't just strum out a few chords and sing a really bad note what makes you think "real" singers in the media use their own voice. Okay so it may sound cool but when you change your voice to make it sound better than it acually is then is it real music or computer made music? An example of computer altered voices are someone like T-Pain with his hit "buy you a drink" or Sean Kingston's "Beautiful Girls" where you can tell with the over perfect voice and overall Cyber-like voice! It's just plain Cheating!!! their are REAL singers out there that have amazing voices that don't need computer altering like Hayley Williams (Paramore) whos voice is perfect for rock and alternative song! I love her voice!!! (Paramore's acoustic version of 'Here we go again' in my last post, click acoustic)

But the question is if you had the chance to use this technology for altering your own voice....would you use it to become famous....or would fame feel hollow?!

Musician turned Actress or Actress turned Musician?

Hey Guys
Have you ever wanted to just be in a movie it didn't even have to be a good one just a movie that people would see you with the cool makeup the styled hair the great lines, I always do! lol actually I want to be up on a stage first playing music before I ever got into acting but then again would I liked to be labled musician turned actress? or actress turned musician? what about you. I'm thinking musician turned actress cause haven't you ever judged someone like Paris Hilton (Movie: House of Wax) or Lindsay Lohan (Movie: Mean girls, Georga Rule) when they made the leap from acting to singing...they didn't get much repect when their album came out (I didn't buy either of them) But it seems when Musicians like Mandy Moore (CD: Wild Hope) or Justin Timberlake (CD: Future Sex Love Sounds) they had great reviews when their movies entered box offices Mandy with 'A Walk to Remember' and 'Because I said so.' Justin with his movie 'Alpha Dog.' So why is this? Is music harder than acting or is because everyone knows what is good or bad music?

My problem here it would I rather start acting when I have the chance while my music career is working its way up or keep working on my music and start acting later when I have time? What's your thoughts?

Sick and Tired of Mass Production Stores

Hey guys
First of all I just wanna say thanks to MM (you know who you are) for the cool link from our schools blog check it out (link on bottom of page) and second this is kinda a bashing blog just so you know. Okay so I was going around town looking for somethings and I went into the music store (not naming it) and so I decided that if I wanted curtian things I would have to order then so about a month ago I e-mailed the shippings guy and he said it would be in, in about a week or so give or take a few days. Now a month, two phone calls, and three dollars later I STILL do not have the things I ordered to today I went in there and asked what had happened to my things and I got the lamest excuse EVER!! he said 'I didn't get that e-mail' and offered me things that I really didn't need. Alright alright I know your busy looking after the big shot musicians and your loyal custumers that come in about once a day but I live in a different town and our music store dosen't get the things I needed SO...I only get there a few days out of the month to acually get the stuff I need AND IT WAS ONLY THREE THINGS!!!!! com'on three things that could have been in, in a week!

So heres my thought about Mass Production Stores if you have a custumer...take it. So what if its WallMart or L&M or even Zellers treat all of the people the same because if you dont you will lose custumers (AKA like me) just because i'm not a hugely known musician or famous dosen't mean you can treat me any differently from the other people. And just to tie this into media cause this blog is for media class...Why do famous people get things for free or go into a store and instantly get amazing service I mean I just as much a paying custumer as they are so don't go running just cause it Rianna or Justin Timberlake cause you have no idea if they are going to just run out of your store because of the Poparazzi so THERE!! lol thats it all I'm going to say so now I'm just going to eat some food so night night

Okay so first REAL blog YOUTUBE

Hey guys,
okay so this blog was set up by a teacher in my media studies class and well it's kinda cool....I like the idea cause media isn't really as 'low tech' as before and now Blogs, Facebook, and other things like youtube are pulled into the whole media thing so thinking about the internet and stuff I was thinking this blog would be about Youtube...AKA my life!!! lol no so pretty much any music you have seen on youtube I have seen: Marie Digby, Chester See, Esmee Denters, Cristina Marie, and best of all David Choi. What I have found out in the last year I have been with youtube is that it is FILLED with useless info, very cool and sometimes creepy entertainment, good singers, bad singers, and amazing talent and now if your good enough you could be signed as a singer or actor as a few lucky people have...for example Esmess Denters...other wise normal 18 year old girl of the neatherlands is now signed and is touring with Justin Timberlake as his opening act and all of it started from a few videos of singing with her stolen sisters webcam NOW what are the chances of it happening again right? Well meet Marie Digby...singer/songwriter now signed with Hollywood Records after she blew up on youtube singing her own cover of "Umberella" a Rianna song and now the song has sold over $15,000 on Itunes, but all the money goes to the 'Save the Music Foundation' another chance at fame. Although there are really good singers and musicians on youtube not all of them get seen untill a few more videos in when they get deeper into the youtube connections and doing popular songs or their own covers.

Now I know i've only been talking about musicians but I'm also one myself so i have to get the props to my music nerds in the house WHOOT WHOOT but i also have to give it up for the actors and comedians like Smosh AKA Ian and Anthony, very good actors/comedians that have their own shirts that they sell from their website and featuring them wearing them on Youtube, cleaver huh? and their vids are very funny. Also I have to say another actor/comedian is HappySlip AKA Kristen she is very funny and has also come close to winning a youtube award but lost out to Smosh, i recomend watching both.

Now Youtube isn't just about a few people making a lot of vids its about LOTS AND LOTS LOTS AND LOTS LOTS AND LOTS LOTS AND LOTS of peole making vids you can almost find about anything that was on TV in youtube like my faveorite show 'So you think you can dance' I watch it religiously (even the re-runs! yeah I'm a nerd) or scenes from you fave movies like Ancourman or Superbad, or whatever you want.

So next time your on Youtube look up random things and you might come across some....Interesting....creepy....funny....things lol my fave vid EVER would have to be 'Charlie the unicorn goes to Candy Mountian' its about the most random stupid thing ever and i can resite alllllllll the words to it...thats kinda sad....but thats my recomendation and some Info! have fun!! :D
